Advait Ayurveda offers you solutions to many of your physical and mental problems that seem chronic and everlasting. That is why today Ayurvedic therapies have become so trendy and one of the highly praised therapy is Shiro Basti Therapy.
The word Shiro means “head” and Basti means “to retain” hence the process of retaining the medicated/herbal oil with the help of a leather cap over the shir Pradesh (head region) is known as the Shiro Basti.
Actually the the word Basti is connected with the Shiro but it doesn’t mean that it is a type of basti because in earlier days to carry out the basti procedure the urinary bladder of animals are used to hold the basti dravyas (drugs) similarly in Shiro Basti the skin of animals is used to hold the oil on the head region which is called as the Shiro Basti yantra, therefore, it is called as the Shiro Basti.
Coined by bringing together two Sanskrit terms – Shiro (head) and Basti (container), ShiroBasti is like a reservoir on your head to strengthen your mind and prevent psychosomatic deasess. It not only relaxes your head but also rejuvenates each and every cell of your body, thereby enhancing your chances of fighting with mental pressure and tension effectively.
Shiro Basti has been used to treat a variety of conditions including eye deases, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, greying of hair, neurological disorders, memory loss, insomnia, hearing impairment, tinnitus, vertigo, Meniere’s deases and certain types of skin deasess like psoriasis. It is also used non-medicinally at spas for its relaxing properties.
